Ex-Tottenham Winger Marcus Edwards Wanted by Several Premier League Clubs

West Ham, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Fulham are all said to have joined the race to sign former Tottenham man Marcus Edwards.

Having joined the Spurs academy aged eight, Edwards left the north London club for Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes in 2019 after failing to establish himself in the first-team setup.

Prior to making the permanent switch to Portugal, Edwards also spent time on loan with Championship club Norwich City before a loan move to Dutch side Excelsior.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a stellar maiden season in the Primeira Liga with Vitoria, notching nine goals and six assists in his 36 appearances in all competitions, and the youngster's fine form hasn't gone unnoticed, with a whole host of Premier League teams registering an interest.

TEAMtalk understand West Ham, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Fulham are all keen on acquiring the services of the former Spurs man, though the interest doesn't stop there.

A number of Championship clubs are also keeping tabs on Edwards including Brentford, Bournemouth and Swansea, while Porto and Sporting CP are also keen.

As for Edwards' stance on his future, the youngster is in no hurry to leave Vitoria having only signed a four-year deal last year, meaning his current contract isn't set to expire until summer 2023.

Having rose through the ranks at Spurs, Edwards was promoted to the Under-23 squad in 2016, and just two months later was handed his first-team debut in a League Cup fixture against Gillingham. He was soon compared to Lionel Messi by Mauricio Pochettino, something the Argentine later admitted he regrets.

That tie would ultimately prove to be Edwards' only senior appearance for Tottenham, with Pochettino allowing the youngster to leave on loan in search of first-team football before his permanent move away from the club in 2019.
