The central defender pulled up midway through the first half of the game at Everton clutching the back of his leg and it was feared he could be sidelined for several weeks with a hamstring injury.

However, Palmer said that the injury was not as severe as first feared: "He has a low grade hamstring strain," the Fulham physio told the clubs website.

"Thankfully, Alain recognised the injury early and let us know.

"The treatment he received in the dressing room for the latter part of the first half and the rest of the second half reduced any swelling and put him in a good position for a quicker recovery.

"Although we don't expect him to be ready for the next two matches, with the international weekend giving us some extra time, we hope he'll be fully fit for the Manchester United game."
