Liverpool have finalised terms with Championship side Fulham to sign teenage starlet Fabio Carvalho, 90min can confirm.
The two clubs had agreed a £7.5m deal back in the January transfer window but failed to finalise things before the end of the month, although the expectancy was that the Reds would part with a similar fee to sign him in the summer anyway.
Carvalho's contract is up at the end of the season but Fulham are still entitled to compensation if they lose him for free. That fee can be decided by a tribunal - as was the case with Harvey Elliott's switch to Anfield in 2019 - but the two clubs have settled on a payment similar to the £7.5m that was proposed in January.
Sources close to the situation have confirmed that Fulham made a last-ditch bid to convince the 19-year-old to sign an extension, but Carvalho's focus is firmly on a move to Liverpool.
Carvalho will finish the season with Fulham, who are just two wins away from sealing promotion back to the Premier League.
The deal for Carvalho follows on a hugely successful couple of weeks on the transfer front for Liverpool when it comes to teenage wingers, having only recently finalised deals for Celtic's Ben Doak and Trent Kone-Doherty of Derry City.
90min can also reveal that the two clubs are continuing talks over Neco Williams. The Welsh right-back has impressed since moving to Craven Cottage on loan in January and Fulham are keen to keep him around.
Fulham are now working hard to bring Williams back for another loan stint, but Liverpool have not yet agreed to the move.
Last week, Fulham boss Marco Silva stated it was too early to discuss Williams potentially staying at the club.
"It’s too early for us to think about or talk about it. Neco is fully focused in his role at this football club, we are focused on taking the best from him. I promised him in January he could come here and fight [for regular football] but the competition would be tough," said Silva.
"His intensity and the way he supported our offensive game has been fantastic and he is a young lad who always gives his best. I am pleased with the way he has adapted at our football club, but talking about his future is too early for us.”
