Coleman believes his side has the edge after progressing against Lincoln in the Carling Cup.
Talking about that midweek encounter, Coleman said: "I had to leave out most of the guys who played against West Ham last weekend.
"Monday night against Tottenham is a big game and we need the result, so I'm delighted we've rested those who are going to play.
"We couldn't afford to go to White Hart Lane with the cupboard bare.
"I could have fielded the first team against Lincoln and lost. That's what Tottenham did against Grimsby, so I'm feeling a lot better as we got the result."
