Tigana will leave Fulham when his present contract with the Cottagers expires at the end of the season after the club announced last week that they will not be offering him a new deal.
But Tigana has defended accusations that he has overspent on players and not brought the success expected.
"£43million in three years? Some clubs spend £50million in one year," he said. "The most important thing is to think of where we were three years ago and where we are now. We also have good young players who are 19, 20 or 21. "I don't know if I've been a success. It's not for me to judge. But I wanted to stay.
"It depended on our targets and if we wanted to fight Manchester United and Arsenal. If we wanted to move the target from that, that would not have been a problem. We would have had to adapt."
